A zipper foot is a sewing machine attachment designed for stitching close to raised edges like zippers, piping, or welting.
Its narrow profile allows the needle to sew right alongside the zipper teeth rather than over them: Switch to the zipper foot before installing the invisible zipper.
Most machines include one as a standard accessory.
