yellow corn
Cob's golden grain
Yellow corn is corn with kernels ranging from pale to deep golden color, the most common variety in the United States.
It's used for animal feed, corn oil, corn syrup, and processed foods more than for eating off the cob.
The term usually appears in contrast to white corn, which is preferred for tortillas and hominy: Most American cornfields grow yellow corn for livestock.
