wrong button
Unintended interface selection
Wrong button is the button you didn't mean to press—on an elevator, a remote, a phone, a keyboard.
The phrase often appears in explanations or apologies: Sorry, I hit the wrong button.
Figuratively, to push someone's wrong button is to trigger an unintended negative reaction: I must have pushed the wrong button—she hasn't spoken to me since.
