Unintentional phone connection
Pocket dial is to accidentally call someone when a phone in your pocket or bag presses against something and activates the keypad or touchscreen.
Also called butt dial.
The noun form describes the call itself: I got a pocket dial from my sister and heard ten minutes of muffled conversation.
As smartphones replaced flip phones, pocket dials became less common but still happen.
