writers' room
TV story lab
A writers' room is the collaborative workspace where television writers develop scripts together, typically a conference room with a large table where staff writers pitch ideas, break stories, and punch up dialogue.
The term also refers to the creative team itself: The writers' room worked through lunch to finish the episode.
Most American TV comedies and dramas use this model, distinguishing them from film, where scripts are usually written by one or two individuals.
