working woman
Female in workforce
A working woman is a woman who works for pay outside the home, as distinguished from a homemaker.
The term often carries implicit acknowledgment of the dual demands many women face balancing career and domestic responsibilities: As a working woman with two kids, she had little time for herself.
The phrase can sound dated, since most adult women now work.
In older usage, *working woman* or *working girl* was sometimes a euphemism for a prostitute.
