wood-pigeon
Cooing grey bird
A wood-pigeon is a large European pigeon with gray plumage, a white neck patch, and a distinctive cooing call.
Common in woodlands, parks, and gardens, it's one of the most abundant birds in Britain: Wood-pigeons were raiding the vegetable garden again.
Also spelled woodpigeon.
