wonderchild
Exceptional gifted youth
A wonderchild is a child who displays exceptional talent or ability, especially in music, mathematics, or other intellectual pursuits.
The term is a direct translation of the German *Wunderkind*, which is more commonly used in English: Mozart was the original wonderchild, composing at age five.
Both terms suggest precocious genius that astonishes adults.
