womyn
Alternative female plural
Womyn is an alternative spelling of woman (plural womyn or wimmin), deliberately avoiding the letters m-e-n to reject linguistic dependence on the male.
The spelling emerged from 1970s feminist movements and remains associated with radical feminism and lesbian separatism: The Michigan Womyn's Music Festival.
Outside these contexts, the spelling often reads as dated or parodic.
