wingmanning

Helping friends flirt

Wingmanning is acting as a wingman—helping a friend attract or approach a romantic or sexual prospect.

The wingman engages others in the group, talks up their friend's qualities, or creates opportunities for conversation: I spent the whole night wingmanning for Jake at the bar.

The term comes from military aviation, where a wingman flies alongside and supports the lead pilot.
