whiting out
Blanking with correction
Whiting out is using correction fluid to cover over text—the white liquid that dries opaque, hiding mistakes on paper.
By extension, whiting out describes any obliteration that leaves blankness: The blizzard was whiting out the road signs.
Memory or consciousness can white out too: I was whiting out from the pain.
