A warming room is a heated space where people can escape cold weather, especially a public or charitable facility offering temporary shelter during extreme temperatures.
Churches, community centers, and emergency services often open warming rooms during winter cold snaps: The city opened warming rooms when temperatures dropped below zero.
In older usage, a warming room was a heated chamber in monasteries or large estates.
