walk-offs
Sudden theatrical departures
Walk-offs are dramatic endings in baseball where the home team wins in their final at-bat, sending fans home immediately—the losing team "walks off" the field.
A walk-off home run, walk-off hit, or walk-off error ends the game the moment the winning run scores: He hit a walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth.
The term has spread to other sudden-victory moments in sports and competitions.
