walk-off single
Final winning base-hit
A walk-off single is a baseball hit that ends the game by driving in the winning run in the bottom of the final inning.
The term "walk-off" refers to the losing team walking off the field immediately afterward—no more at-bats needed.
A single is the most modest hit, advancing the batter to first base, but in this context it's enough to win: Martinez lined a walk-off single to left field.
