vowelling
Supplying missing sounds
Vowelling is the act of adding vowel marks to text written in a script that normally omits them—particularly Hebrew, Arabic, and other Semitic writing systems.
These marks guide pronunciation for learners, liturgical texts, or ambiguous words: The Torah scroll requires careful vowelling for accurate reading.
