Visual search is the process of using an image rather than text to find information or similar items online.
You might photograph a plant to identify its species, or snap a picture of shoes to find where to buy them: I used visual search to find that lamp I saw on Instagram.
The term also applies to the cognitive act of scanning a scene for a specific object—what your eyes do when hunting for your keys on a cluttered desk.
