visual aura

Pre-migraine light show

A visual aura is a sensory disturbance affecting vision, typically preceding a migraine or seizure.

Common forms include shimmering lights, blind spots, zigzag patterns, or flickering at the edges of vision: I knew a migraine was coming when the visual aura started.

The episode usually lasts fifteen to thirty minutes.

In migraine contexts, often shortened to just aura.
