urban murals
Street wall art
Urban murals are large-scale paintings or artworks applied directly to exterior walls in cities.
They range from commissioned public art to unauthorized graffiti, transforming blank building surfaces into visual statements—political, cultural, or purely decorative.
Some neighborhoods become destinations for their murals: We spent the afternoon walking the urban mural trail downtown.
The term distinguishes city wall art from gallery work or rural barn paintings.
