Public disclosure event
An unveiling ceremony is a formal event where something previously hidden is revealed to the public—typically a monument, memorial, statue, or plaque.
The ceremony usually involves removing a cloth covering while dignitaries speak: The mayor presided over the unveiling ceremony for the new war memorial.
The term also applies to product launches and commemorative events.
