unpatriotic
Lacking national loyalty
Unpatriotic describes a lack of loyalty or devotion to one's country, or actions perceived as contrary to national interests.
The term is often deployed as an accusation: They called the protesters unpatriotic.
What counts as unpatriotic varies widely—dissent, flag-burning, or refusing military service might qualify for some but not others.
The charge carries rhetorical force precisely because patriotism is presumed virtuous.
