union locals
Regional labor groups
Union locals are the individual chapters or branches of a larger labor union, organized at the workplace, company, or geographic level.
Members belong to their local, which handles day-to-day union business—collecting dues, filing grievances, negotiating with employers.
The union locals voted to ratify the contract.
Each local typically has a number: Teamsters Local 705, SEIU Local 1199.
