unfirable
Cannot be dismissed
Unfirable describes someone who cannot be dismissed from their position, whether due to legal protections, political circumstances, or practical necessity.
A tenured professor is technically unfirable; a CEO's nephew may be effectively unfirable.
The word often carries a note of frustration: He's unfirable no matter how badly he performs.
Also applies to objects that cannot be discharged: an unfirable weapon.
