A turn lane is a designated lane on a road reserved for vehicles waiting to turn, separated from through traffic.
Turn lanes prevent cars making left or right turns from blocking drivers going straight: Get in the turn lane if you're turning left at the light.
Most commonly refers to left-turn lanes at intersections.
