turbinado sugar
Partially refined sweetener
Turbinado sugar is a partially refined cane sugar with large, pale golden crystals and a mild molasses flavor.
It retains some natural molasses because the refining process stops early—the crystals are spun in a turbine to remove surface moisture but not stripped completely white.
Common as a sweetener for coffee or a crunchy topping for baked goods: She sprinkled turbinado sugar on the muffins before baking.
