triple decker
Three-tiered sandwich
A triple decker is something with three layers or levels.
Most commonly it's a sandwich with three slices of bread and two layers of filling: I ordered the club sandwich—a classic triple decker.
In architecture, especially in New England, a triple decker is a three-story residential building with one apartment per floor.
The term also applies to triple-decker buses and triple-decker bunks.
