trip-up
Make someone blunder
A trip-up is a mistake or blunder, especially one that causes embarrassment or failure: A small trip-up in the interview cost him the job.
The term comes from the literal sense of tripping someone—causing them to stumble.
To trip up is to make such an error, or to cause someone else to stumble: The tricky question tripped her up.
