tribal names
Indigenous group identifiers
Tribal names are the names by which indigenous peoples, ethnic groups, or clans identify themselves or are identified by others.
These range from self-designated names (endonyms) to names assigned by outsiders (exonyms), which sometimes carry outdated or offensive connotations: The tribe prefers their traditional name to the one European settlers gave them.
In casual use, tribal names can refer to any group's identifying label.
