transitional governments
Temporary ruling bodies
A transitional government is a temporary administration that bridges the gap between an old regime and a new permanent one, typically after a revolution, coup, peace agreement, or collapse of authority.
Its mandate is usually limited—overseeing elections, drafting a constitution, or maintaining order until stable governance emerges: The transitional government will hold power until elections next spring.
