trampers

Wanderers on foot

Trampers are people who tramp—who walk with heavy steps or hike long distances on foot.

In New Zealand and parts of the Commonwealth, trampers are recreational hikers who go tramping through bush or backcountry: The trampers set out at dawn for the mountain hut.

The word can also mean heavy boots designed for rough terrain.
