tire patch

Rubber hole seal

A tire patch is a piece of rubber or similar material used to repair a punctured tire, applied over the hole from the inside to restore an airtight seal.

Patches are cheaper than replacement and work well for small punctures: The mechanic put a tire patch on rather than selling me a new tire.

Patch kits for bicycles are a staple of cycling gear.
