time-division

Slots share channel

Time-division describes a method of sharing a resource by dividing it into separate time slots.

In telecommunications, time-division multiplexing allows multiple signals to share a single channel by transmitting each in rapid succession: time-division multiple access.

The concept applies wherever sequential allocation replaces simultaneous use.
