tie downs
Load restraint straps
Tie downs are straps, ropes, or fasteners used to secure cargo or equipment in place during transport.
They prevent loads from shifting on trucks, trailers, or aircraft: Check the tie downs before we hit the highway.
The term also applies to anchor points where such straps attach.
As a verb phrase, to tie down means to secure something or, figuratively, to restrict someone's freedom: I don't want to be tied down to one place.
