thumb joint
Opposable finger articulation
The thumb joint is the point where the thumb connects to the hand, or where the two bones of the thumb meet.
The term applies to any of these articulation points, though it most often refers to the base joint where the thumb meets the palm—the one that allows the thumb's distinctive opposing grip.
My thumb joint aches in cold weather.
