Long basketball shot
A three pointer is a basketball shot taken from beyond the three-point arc, worth three points instead of the usual two.
The term extends to any successful shot from that distance: She hit a three pointer at the buzzer.

In casual use, sometimes shortened to three: He's shooting threes all night.
