ten count
Referee's floor countdown
A ten count is the referee's count to ten over a downed boxer, determining a knockout if the fighter cannot rise before the count ends.
The term extends to any final countdown or last chance: After three warnings, the boss started the ten count on his employment.
In wrestling, the ten count applies to fighters outside the ring who must return before being counted out.
