tarmacs

Planes taxi here

Tarmacs is the plural of tarmac, the paved surface of an airport where planes taxi, park, and load passengers.

Originally short for tarmacadam—a road surfacing material—tarmac now refers almost exclusively to airport pavement: Passengers waited on the tarmac for hours.

As a verb, to tarmac is to pave a surface with this material.
