hold out
Refuse to yield
Hold out means to extend something toward someone: She held out her hand.
It also means to last or endure: How long can our supplies hold out?
To hold out for something is to refuse to accept less: They're holding out for a better offer.
A holdout is someone who resists joining others or accepting terms.
