tank division
Military armor formation
A tank division is a large military unit organized around armored vehicles—tanks and supporting equipment—designed for offensive operations requiring mobility and firepower.
Tank divisions were central to 20th-century warfare, particularly in World War II, where they enabled rapid advances across territory: The German tank divisions pushed through the Ardennes.
Modern militaries often use "armored division" instead.
