taken down
Removed from position
Taken down describes something that has been removed, dismantled, or lowered from its position: The Christmas decorations were finally taken down.
It also means defeated or subdued—a wrestler taken down, a criminal taken down by police.
In casual speech, getting taken down often implies public humiliation or having one's ego checked: He got taken down a peg when his lies were exposed.
