tabled
Shelved for later
Tabled means put on the table for consideration—but which table determines everything.
In American usage, to table something is to set it aside indefinitely: The committee tabled the motion until next session.
In British and parliamentary usage, to table means the opposite—to bring forward for immediate discussion: The minister tabled an amendment.
This transatlantic split causes confusion in international meetings.
