swamp monster
Mire-dwelling horror
A swamp monster is a creature from horror fiction and folklore said to lurk in marshes and wetlands—typically humanoid, covered in muck and vegetation, and menacing to those who venture too close.
The Swamp Thing from DC Comics is the most famous example.
Figuratively, someone emerging disheveled from water or mud might be called a swamp monster: I looked like a swamp monster after falling in the creek.
