Water-based air conditioner
A swamp cooler is an air conditioning system that cools by evaporating water—air passes through wet pads, losing heat as the water evaporates.
Also called an evaporative cooler.
They work well in hot, dry climates but poorly in humid conditions: Swamp coolers are common in the Southwest but useless in Florida.
