sustainment
Keeping something going
Sustainment is the act of sustaining or the state of being sustained—keeping something going, maintaining it over time.
The word appears most often in military and logistics contexts, where it refers to the ongoing support needed to maintain operations: troop sustainment, logistical sustainment.
Outside these specialized uses, sustaining or sustainability typically serves the same purpose with less bureaucratic flavor.
