supercruise
Afterburnerless supersonic flight
Supercruise is sustained supersonic flight without using afterburners—a capability that allows military aircraft to cruise above the speed of sound efficiently rather than in short, fuel-guzzling bursts.
Only a handful of fighter jets can supercruise: The F-22 can supercruise at Mach 1.5.
The term also names Tesla's driver-assistance system, which handles highway driving semi-autonomously.
