study permit
Academic entry document
A study permit is an official document authorizing a foreign national to pursue education in a country where they are not a citizen or permanent resident.
Common in Canadian immigration terminology, it differs from a student visa—the permit allows study once inside the country, while the visa grants entry: Her study permit expires when she graduates.
Most countries require the permit for programs lasting longer than a few months.
