strike zones
Pitchers' target areas
Strike zones, in baseball, are the areas over home plate through which a pitch must pass to be called a strike if the batter doesn't swing.
The zone extends roughly from the batter's knees to the midpoint of the torso, though umpires interpret it variably.
Figuratively, a strike zone is any target area or range of acceptability: That proposal is right in our strike zone.
