strike breaker
Replacement worker hired
A strike breaker is a worker hired to replace employees who are on strike, or someone who continues working during a strike.
The term carries strong negative connotations among labor supporters, who view strike breakers as undermining workers' collective bargaining power: The company brought in strike breakers to keep the factory running.
Also called a scab.
