stretcher bearers
Battlefield evacuation team
Stretcher bearers are people who carry a stretcher, typically transporting the wounded or dead from battlefields or disaster sites.
The term evokes wartime imagery—soldiers or medics moving casualties under fire: Stretcher bearers worked through the night after the bombing.
In civilian contexts, emergency responders perform the same function but are rarely called this.
