steam heating
Boiler-powered home warmth
Steam heating is a system that warms buildings by circulating steam through pipes and radiators.
Water is boiled in a central boiler, and the resulting steam travels through the building, releasing heat as it condenses back to water.
Common in older buildings, especially in the northeastern United States: The apartment has original steam heating from the 1920s.
