games back
Endorses in hindsight
Games back is a sports statistic measuring how far a team trails the division or league leader in the standings.
It combines wins and losses into a single number: if the first-place team has won two more games and lost two fewer, you're four games back.
The Cubs are three games back with a week to play.
Half-games occur when teams have played different numbers of games.
